Messi adds another record to his name in FIFA Awards; find out which one
Messi FIFA Award: Argentina’s Lionel Messi ended last night in style as he picked up the 2022 FIFA Player of the Award in Paris last night.
The Argentine captain won his 7th FIFA Player of the Year award of his career with last night’s scoop.
Alongside this, Messi found himself in the FIFA Team of the Year as well after he led and inspired his country to a World Cup triumph.
With this entry into the Team of the Year, Messi beat his long-time rival, Cristiano Ronaldo to another FIFA record.

Last night, Messi’s entry into the Team of the Year 2022 was the 16th time he found a place in the FIFA awards.
Since the inception of this award, no other player has been nominated in a Team of the Year more than Lionel Messi.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed out after a poor 2022 for the first time since 2007, which made it a total of 15 times.
Before the night, Messi was joint with Ronaldo for most appearances in the TOTY. But with last night’s scoop, Messi is outright on top.
