EPL Result: Mata scores in his last match as Man United beat Wolves 2-1, finish as runners-up this season


Man Utd beat Wolves: Manchester United beat Wolves 2-1 at the Molinuex Stadium on Sunday to finish runners-up in the Premier League 2020-21 season.
Elanga opened the scoring for visitors before Semedo equalized.
But the ever-smiling Juan Mata scored the crucial penalty to help United win 2-1 and sign off his Manchester United career with a win.

FIRST HALF
Manchester United began this match with Elanga, Amad and Mata replacing Bruno, Pogba and Cavani.
The visitors kicked off and it was a decent start to the game from both ends although no real chances were created.
Manchester Untied took the lead in the 13th minute as Elanga scored his maiden goal for the senior team.

James sent in a teasing cross from the left side which Elanga headed home with authority to give his side the lead.
Wolves replied soon to equalize and make it 1-1.
ImageSemedo got onto Silva’s ball and rolled it home from close range to complete a fantastic team goal.
Williams had a good chance to double the lead but his shot was straight at Patricio and saved easily.
Manchester United thought they should have got a penalty after Saiss clipped Van de Beek in the box.
After VAR’s intervention, the visitors were given the spot-kick.
ImageMata clinically struck home from the spot to give the visitors a 2-1 lead as we reached half time.
It was a decent half as neither side created many more chances.
United edged the half on performance and were 2-1 up.
SECOND HALF
Wolves started off the second half brighter as they saw more of the ball but lacked any major chances.
Manchester Utd should have gone 3-1 up through James but the Welshman’s attempted dink was skewed well off target.
The home side tried to work through the wings but lacked the spark to make a difference.
United defended courageously and easily coped with the Wolves attack.
As the match progressed, it lacked quality and oomph as the visitors held on.
Man Utd beat Wolves 2-1 at the end with Mata’s goal being the winner.
The visitors finished their season unbeaten in all their away matches this season.
The Red Devils finished the league as runners-up to their local rivals, Manchester City.
