Man United News: Top 3 candidates to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjær as United Boss; check out

Man Utd Next Manager: Manchester United have begun their run for the next manager after the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjær 12 games into the season.

The Red Devils went through a number of poor results in recent weeks which began with the loss to Villa, aggravated by the losses to rivals, Liverpool and Man City before the culmination at the hands of Watford.

United’s 4-1 away loss on the weekend was the final nail in the coffin for the Norwegian boss/ ex-player as it spelt the end for him at the club.

Micheal Carrick has been appointed the interim manager of the club till the club finds a suitable candidate to replace Solskjær.

The ex-Manchester United player has a difficult ask to help his team get back on their feet with matches against Villarreal in the UCL and Chelsea in the EPL during the coming week.

Approaches for a new manager have been made and we have seen the names of Brendan Rodgers, Zinedine Zidane, Pochettino doing the rounds.

United has already overseen the likes of Moyes, Van Gaal, Mourinho and Solskjær come and go since Ferguson retired at the end of the 2012-13 season.

Man United have not been a force in the Premier League since and are yet to win the EPL title since 2013.

Hence, United need a manager which will be able to restore them to the glory days of before and hence we look at the top 3 choices for the next boss.

Brendan Rodgers

The ex-Liverpool and current Leicester City boss has been an impressive figure in the Premier League for some time.

He came ever so close to lifting the Premier League crown with Liverpool in 2013-14, but finished runners-up by 2 points.

Rodgers’ attacking style of football coupled with defensive solidity makes him one of the top contenders to replace the Norwegian at United.

Brendan Rodgers has overseen FA Cup success last season with Leicester City while he also helped the Foxes lift the Community Shield in 2021.

He is one of the most experienced managers in the Premier League and would be a good fit at the Red Devils, if he is given the chance.

However, we do not see him leaving the position of Leicester boss mid-season as he has reiterated about the same.

United need a manager with a calming influence after a poor start to the season and Rodgers could be the ideal man.

Erik ten Hag

ImageThe current Ajax boss is another one in the running to take over as the next Manchester United boss.

Erik ten Hag has an impressive record as Ajax boss with 135 wins out of 185 matches with a jaw-dropping 72.97% success rate.

In 2019, ten Hag led his Ajax team to the semi-finals of the 2018-19 UCL season for the first time since 1997.

The Eredivisie side beat the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus in the knockout rounds before losing to Spurs in the semi’s.

Ten Hag’s impressive footballing acumen and ability to play attacking football is biggest positive.

He helped them lift the Eredivisie title twice since his appointment. In 2019, he was ranked the 4th best FIFA Men’s coach of the year which has shown his growth as a football manager over years.

Ajax’s boss remains a suitable option for Man United given his recent success. The only draw-back for ten Hag could be his lack of experience in the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino

The PSG boss and ex-Tottenham manager is a firm favourite to take over at Manchester United mid-season.

The Argentine manager helped Spurs to their greatest ever finish in the EPL in 2016-17 season, where they finished runners-up.

Pochettino led Tottenham to their first-ever UCL final appearance in the 2018-19 season, where they finished runners-up to Liverpool.

The experience Pochettino can get into the Premier League  makes him a top candidate for the job.

He got the best out of players like Son, Alli and Kane; who fired on all cylinders during their brilliant run.

With over a 50% success rate at Spurs, Mauricio brings in quality and richness to the Premier League.

Since his appointment at PSG, Pochettino has not been able to hit top gear with an impressive squad. This could be a reason for United looking to get him back to the EPL.

If United can snap up Mauricio during this season, he is one of the top candidates to get their season back on track.
