France 2-1 Denmark: Mbappé scores a brace as France seal qualification into the Round of 16 with a 2-1 win over Denmark on Saturday in Group D.
The PSG lad scored on either side of Denmark’s Christensen to ensure a deserved victory for Les Bleus as they moved to the Round of 16.
FIRST HALF
France was the more dominant side from the offset and had most of the chances come from their side.
Dembele turned provider for the likes of Mbappé and Giroud, but both failed to convert their chances due to Schmeichel’s sharp form.
The Danish side came close but lacked the conviction in the final third. They used short passes and overlapping wing-play to their effect but lacked the killer instinct to test the French captain and keeper, Lloris.
SECOND HALF
Les Bleus had the more creative and quick-footed players in their ranks as Mbappé and Dembele tried to put more pressure on the Danish side.
Eventually, the door opened as Mbappé broke the deadlock with a composed finish. It all began with him using his pace down the left-flank before releasing the ball to Hernandez.
The AC Milan player played a good one-two with him before he coolly dispatched a tricky shot past Schmeichel for 1-0.
Denmark hit back with an equalizer in the 68th minute through Christensen, when he headed home past Lloris. There were some chances for Denmark an France alike with both keepers being tested.
