Both sides recently met in group stage on 25th July where Japan beat Mexico 2-1 through Kubo and Doan’s first half strikes.

Mexico pulled one back through Alvarado in the 85th minute but it proved to be too little too late.

Line-ups

Mexico:

Ochoa, Sanchez, Montes, Vasquez, Angulo, Romo, Rodriguez, Cordova, Antuna, Martin and Vega

Japan:

Tani, Sakai, Yoshida, Tomiyasu, Hatate, Endo, Tanaka, Doan, Kubo, Soma and Hayashi

Prediction: Mexico 2-1 Japan

Japan has the advantage of home crowd but Mexico’s form in recent times has been slightly better and we could see them edge this one.

The Mexican side has the experience of playing in this stage of the competition more than Japan and that could be where the match is won or lost.
