Moeen Ali Retirement: England cricket team’s legendary all-rounder Moeen Ali has retired from the Test format as he announced this earlier in the day. English man is currently in UAE and is playing for Chennai Super Kings in the second leg of IPL 2021 there.

There are reports that Moeen Ali has announce his retirement from Test cricket on Monday. However, he informed the Test team captain Joe Root, head coach Chris Silverwood and the selectors about this decision only last week.

According to the report of Cricinfo. Moeen Ali has taken this decision as he no longer wants to play Test cricket. The 34-year-old all-rounder wants to focus his full attention on white-ball cricket.

Moeen will be seen playing for England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Apart from this, he may also be selected for the Ashes series to be played later this year and in such a situation. He may have to stay away from his family for a long time.

In view of this, he has taken this decision to say goodbye to the Test format.

Moeen Ali Test Career

Ali’s name is counted among the best all-rounders of the England cricket team.  Moeen played his last test match against India. Moeen Ali has been in and out of the Test team of England. The left-handed batsman made his Test debut in the year 2014 in the Lord’s Test against Sri Lanka.

He has played a total of 64 Test matches so far, in which Moeen has scored 2914 runs at an average of 28.29 including 5 centuries and 14 half-centuries.

At the same time, Moeen Ali has taken 195 wickets at an average of 36.66.  Off-spinner Moeen Ali has taken four wickets in Tests 13 times and five wickets five times.
