We have a look at the players to score 5 or more goals at a single European Championship tournament in the 21^st century.

Milan Baroš (2004)

The Euro 2004 saw the best of Czech Republic striker, Milan Baroš as he finished the tournament as the leading goal scorer with 5 goals.

He was awarded the Golden Boot for the same as his goals led the Czech side to a semi-final finish.

Baroš scored 3 in the group stage against Netherlands, Czech Republic and Germany.

In the crucial knockouts against Denmark, he scored a brace as well.

Since the turn of the century, this was Czech Republic’s best finish at a European Championship.

Antoine Griezmann (2016)

The French striker scored 6 goals in the Euro 2016 but could not help his side win the title as France finished runners-up behind Portugal.

Antoine Griezmann was in a rich vein of form and made sure that he ticked the boxes for France in the Euro 2016.

In the group stage, he scored a sole goal against Albania and followed it up with another one against Ireland in the Round of 16.

Griezmann scored a brace against Iceland and Germany in the Quarters and semi-finals respectively.

He was awarded the Golden Boot for his brilliant goal-scoring form in the Euro 2016.

Cristiano Ronaldo (2020)

The Portuguese striker broke many records in the ongoing Euro 2020 through his goal scoring.

From being the top scorer in European Championships to playing 5 editions of the tournament, Ronaldo did it all.

Ronaldo finished the Euro 2020 with 5 goals to his name as Portugal were knocked out in the Round of 16 by Belgium.

CR7 scored a brace against Hungary followed by a strike against Germany.

He scored an important brace against France as well which helped A Seleção qualify for the knockouts as well.

Currently, he is the top scorer of the Euro 2020 and shares the top spot with Czech Republic’s Patrik Schick.

Patrik Schick (2020)

Czech Republic enjoyed a memorable run in the Euro 2020 as they secured a Quarter-final berth before losing out to Denmark.

Schick played a huge part in carrying Czech till the last 8.

Patrik began his Euro 2020 in style with a brace against Scotland which included the ‘Goal of the competition’; a strike from 49.7 yards which left the Scottish side everyone in awe.

He followed it up with a goal against Croatia in the group stage as well.

Important goals against Netherlands and Denmark in the knockouts helped him reach the tally of 5.

He finished his tournament with 5 goals as well.

Schick made an instant impact for the Czech side in this competition and was their best player throughout.
