Olsen stars as Spain held to a 0-0 draw by Sweden in Group E match; check out


Spain 0-0 Sweden: Spain were held to a goalless draw by Sweden in their Group E opening match of the UEFA Euro 2020 on Tuesday in Sevilla.

La Roja dominated possession but lacked in the final third as both sides settled for a point each.

Robin Olsen produced a match-winning perfomance as he made a number of brilliant saves to keep the men in Yellow in the contest.

FIRST HALF

Spain dominated early possession as they worked the ball in midfield and forced Sweden to sit deep and soak up the pressure. Sweden defended well as the wave of Spanish attacks came their way.

ImageOlmo came close to breaking the deadlock but Olsen produced a terrific diving save to deny him.

Koke had his moment as well but got too much on the shot as it flew over the crossbar.

Spain rallied at Sweden while the men in Yellow and white defended with intensity.

Morata had the biggest chance of the half when he was through on goal but placed his effort narrowly wide of the goal.

There was time for one last effort before the half as Olsen made a good stop to keep Olmo’s shot away from the target.

At half time, it was 0-0 in Sevilla with Spain dominating possession.

SECOND HALF

The second half started in similar manner as Spain had control of the possession and camped themselves in the Sweden half.

The men in Yellow and white had their best chance of the second half in the 61st minute; but Berg missed the target from a couple of yards out.

It was fantastic play in the buildup from Isak as he dribbled past 2 Spanish defenders before he set up Berg.

ImageLa Roja kept the persistence on and almost scored late on to clinch the three points but Olsen made a terrific save with his feet to deny Moreno.

This was the last piece of action as it finished Spain 0-0 Sweden.

Enrique’s men had 85% ball possession by the end of 90 minutes but lacked in the final third as they settled for a point.

ImageSweden had a sole chance in the entire match but defended with passion and determination to get the point.
