Oman thrash PNG by 10 wickets in the opening encounter of ICC T20 World Cup 2021
Oman beats PNG: Hosts Oman started off with a win in the T20 World Cup and defeated Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 10 wickets in the opening match of the tournament on Sunday.
Hosts Oman got full 2 ​​points with this win. Host team captain Zeeshan Maqsood won the toss and invited the PNG team to bat first.
However, PNG team could manage only 129 runs in 20 overs losing 9 wickets. Oman achieved the target in 13.4 overs without losing any wicket. Jatinder Singh (73 *) gave the team victory with a six. He made a match-winning opening partnership with opener Aaqib Ilyas (50*).
Chasing a target of 130 runs, Aaqib and Jatinder gave Oman a good start. In the powerplay itself, the team added 46 runs without losing any wicket.

Earlier, Oman captain Zeeshan took 4 wickets for just 20 runs, who was also adjudged man of the match. PNG captain Asad Wala scored a brilliant century and played a fine innings of 56 runs.
He hit 4 fours and 3 sixes in his innings of 43 balls. Asad added 81 runs for the third wicket with Charles Amini (37). Charles hit 4 fours and 1 six in 26 balls. Bilal Khan and Kalimullah also took 2-2 wickets for Oman.
