Result of Team India in the last 5 ICC Knock out tournaments: India has yet to win an ICC trophy since 2013. Here are the last 5 knockout matches where a few mistakes cost India’s chances to lift an ICC trophy.

Sri Lanka- 134/4 (17.5)

Sri Lanka won by 6 wickets

This was played in Bangladesh. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. Apart from Virat Kohli who scored 77 runs off 58 deliveries, no other batsman was up to the mark on that day. India was unable to defend its below-par score.

ICC ODI World Cup Semi-Final, 2015India ICC Tournaments

India- 233/10 (46.5)

Australia- 328/7 (50.0)

Australia won by 95 runs

Aus won the toss and elected to bat first. India entered the tournament as defending champions and well as favorites but unfortunately, the men in blue were succumbed to Australia’s fierce bowling and lost the semi-final. 

Steve Smith scored a brilliant century in that innings. For India Umesh Yadav took 4 wickets but wasn’t enough to stop their runs while Skipper MSD was the highest scorer with 65 runs.

ICC T20  World Cup Semi Final, 2016

India- 192/2 (20.0)

West Indies- 196/3 (19.4)

West Indies won by 7 wickets

WI won the toss and decided to bowl. MSD led Indian squad put a humongous total of 192 runs for the opposition to chase which was above par score. Kohli was phenomenal with the bat scoring 89 off 47 balls not out.

However, the West Indies put up a match-winning performance which made the target of 192 look ordinary led by Lendl Simmons who scored 82 runs. Nehra was the only bowler to return with respectable figures of 1 for 24 from his 4 overs

ICC Champions Trophy Final, 2017

India- 158/10 (30.3)

Pakistan- 338/4 (50.0)

Pakistan won by 180 runs

India won the toss and decided to bowl. Call it a nightmare the loss against India’s biggest rivals Pakistan makes this one of the worst defeats for India in ICC tournaments. Pakistan put up a great score of 338 onboard for India to chase but India had the worst day with the bat. The whole team was sent back to pavilion in just 30 overs making less than half runs. 

Pakistan’s pace failed India’s top order and the misery of run out between Hardik and Jadeja resulted in India losing all hopes. For Pakistan, Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali picked up 3 wickets each.

ICC ODI World Cup Semi- Final, 2019

India- 221/10 (49.3)

New Zealand- 239/8 (50.0)

New Zealand won by 18 runs

NZ won the toss and decided to bat. New Zealand put up an average score on board for India to chase. New Zealand’s bowling attack dominated and failed India in order to get all out. Ross Taylor made 70 while Matt Henry took 3 wickets. 

For India, Jadeja scored 77 while MSD who runs faster than anyone, was ran out at 50 which gave all the fans a heartbreak and saw India’s Plummet in the league, eventually kicking India out of the finale’s race.
