Robert Lewandowski equals Gerd Müller’s 50 year old Bundesliga record

Lewandowski 40 goals: Robert Lewandowski equalled Gerd Müller’s record of 40 goals in one season in the ongoing match against Freiburg.

The Polish international scored a penalty in the 26^th minute to equal the record set by Müller in 1971-72 Bundesliga season.

Lewandowski and Bayern Munich would hope that he scores number 41 in the second half and creates history. Robert has also added 7 assists to his tally.

A record which leaves people in disbelief could be broken today with Lewandowski taking the top spot.

Lewandowski has scored 292 goals for Bayern in the Bundesliga since he moved in 2014 from Dortmund.

He also had 65 assists to his name in a glorious career with the Bavarians.

Bayern recently won their 9^th successive Bundesliga title and are currently 8 points ahead.
