Spain beat Slovakia 5-0 in Group E match; to face Croatia in knockouts of Euro 2020

Spain 5-0 Slovakia: Spain humbled Slovakia 5-0 in their last Group E match on Wednesday and qualified to the Round of 16 of the Euro 2020.

Dubravka and Kucka scored own goals while Laporte, Sarabia and Torres also chipped in to score 5 on the night which ensures they face Croatia in the Round of 16 match on Monday.

FIRST HALF

Spain began the half in bright fashion as Morata got Dubravka into action in the 5^th minute itself as the Slovakian made a good save.

Spain won a penalty as Hromada committed a foul on Koke in the box. Morata missed the penalty as Dubravka guessed the right way to keep his side in it.

La Roja were the better side for majority of the half as they effected saves from Dubravka and were consistently threatening the opposition goal.

It was a moment of madness from Slovakia as Martin Dubravka pushed the ball into his own net to give Spain a 1-0 lead.

In an attempt to punch the ball away, inexplicably he punched the ball into his own net with no pressure.

The away side doubled their lead through Laporte as the defender headed home to make it 2-0 just before half time.

SECOND HALF

Spain continued to pile the pressure on Slovakia as they made it 3-0 in the 56^th minute through Sarabia.

The PSG winger received a low cross from Alba before he clipped a left-footed strike past Dubravka to triple their lead.

It was decisive passing around the midfield which saw Alba utilize the space and flanks with his good runs.

Sarabia redirected his shot into the goal courtesy of some help from the post.

Ferran Torres made it 4-0 in the 67^th minute to pile on the misery for Slovakia as he produced a flick to send the ball past Dubravka.

Sarabia drilled a cross for his teammate, who scored with a smart finish.

There was time for more as Spain made it 5-0 in the 71^st minute with Kucka scoring the 2^nd own goal of the match.

He tried to clear his line from the loose ball but ended up sending it over the line.

This was another comical moment as Slovakia conceded number 5 on the night.

Slovakia lost all hope and confidence with this performance and it finished 5-0 at the end of full time.

With this win, Spain finished 2^nd in Group E behind Sweden and will face Croatia in the Round of 16.
