Team India reaches on the top of ICC World Test Championship after beating England in historic fourth Test at Oval

ICC World Test Championship 2021-23: The Indian team has taken the lead in the 2021-23 edition of the World Test Championship (WTC). And reached the top with a win in the fourth Test against England at The Oval here.

However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has not yet officially confirmed it.

Had no marks been deducted, India would have scored 26 marks and 58.33 percent Percent of Points (PCT). It is followed by Pakistan and West Indies with 12 points and 50 per cent PCT.

Twelve points are awarded for each test match, six for a tie and four for a draw.  100 PCT is available for every match won, 50 PCT for tie and 33.33 PCT for draw.

60 points in a five-match Test series, 48 ​​in a four-match series, 36 in a three-match series and 24 in a two-match series.

Two points were deducted each for India and England’s slow over-rate. 16 points were to come from the first three Tests, but got only 14.

England have the same number of points due to losing the match. But India’s points will increase due to winning the match.

India’s win creates an early lead for the runners-up side of the first edition of the tournament, as home advantage is usually a key factor in deciding Tests and series between the top contenders. After two years of cycling, the top two teams make it to the finals.

Australia and England had missed out on a place in the first edition due to Corona, while India qualified for the final on the basis of victory on the tour of Australia.
