The Belgian had an extremely productive 2018 as he scored 14 goals for the country in 14 appearances.

This remains his highest goal total in a calendar year since he made his debut.

The 14 goals included 4 goals during the World Cup as the Red Devils finished 3rd in that edition of the World event.

He continued the good form in the UEFA Nations League and friendly matches as well. Today, Lukaku is the nation’s leading goal-scorer with 68 strikes in just 102 appearances.

Cristiano Ronaldo maximized 2019 for Portugal with 14 strikes to his name in just 10 appearances.

This was Ronaldo’s most prolific year since he made his debut for A Selecao in 2003. Portugal missed out in the WC in 2018 but Ronaldo continued his good form outside with important strikes during the Nations League in 2019.

In 2 appearances, he scored 3 goals which included a hat-trick against Switzerland in the semi-final.

The remaining goals came as part of the qualifiers for Euro 2020.

CR7 is the world’s leading goal-scorer in international football with 117 goals to his name and is far ahead of any current active player.

The year was 2014 and Neymar was at his electrifying best as he managed 15 goals in that calendar year.

Neymar scored 4 goals in 5 appearances for Brazil in the World Cup before a unfortunate injury against Colombia brought an end to his campaign.

2014 was Neymar’s most prolific year for the nation as he was in a world of his own. However, the World Cup dream remained distant.

But that did not put the then Barcelona player down as he scored 11 goals in international friendlies before and after the World Cup to end a successful year.

Harry Kane

Kane scored 4 times in 7 appearances during the main event which included important strikes against Germany and Denmark during the knockouts.

The other 12 goals came during the World Cup Qualifiers where England easily managed a top table finish to seal their spot in the Qatar event.

The ex-Manchester United player has seen better form since leaving England and currently has 41 goals to his name for Holland.
