UCL Final: 7 Times when teams from same country face each other in final


UCL final: The UEFA Champions League will see two teams from the same country face each other in the finals as Chelsea take on Manchester City on May 29.
This is the 8th time in the history of UCL that two teams from the same country will lock horns for Europe’s ultimate prize.

We revisit the times when two teams from the same country faced each other in a UCL final:
Real Madrid vs Valencia (1999/00)
ImageIt was the 1999/2000 Champions League final where the two Spanish sides met at Stade de France.
Real Madrid won the match 3-0 with Morientes, McManaman and Raúl getting onto the scoresheet.
This was Vicente del Bosque’s first title as Real Madrid manager.
AC Milan vs Juventus (2002/03)

Milan won 3-2 on penalties after the match finished 0-0 after extra time.
Andriy Shevchenko scored the final penalty as Milan won their 6th European Cup.

The two sides faced each other in the 2007/08 final at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
Manchester United won the title on penalties 6-5 after it finished 1-1 in extra time.
Terry and Anelka missed their spot-kicks as United won their 3rd European title.
Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund (2012/13)

Bayern Munich won the match 2-1 with Robben scoring the winner in the 89th minute.
Mandzukic opened the scoring before Gündogan’s penalty restored parity.

Real Madrid won the match 4-1 at the end of extra time to secure their 10th UCL title.
Godin scored the opener for Atlético before Ramos equalized in the 93rd minute.
Bale, Marcelo and Ronaldo scored the others as Ancelotti won his 3rd Champions League title.
Real Madrid vs Atlético Madrid (2015/16)
