UEFA has abolished the away goal rule in all cups: it’s official

The UEFA Executive Committee has officially taken the decision to cancel the away goals rule. Which has been in force for 54 years now. A choice made official today and which will come into force starting from the 2021/2022 season for all Uefa competitions, including the Champions League.

In the event that the two teams score the same number of goals between home and away. It will continue with extra time and penalties.

For all matches such as the Champions, Europa League and Conference League. In the event of a tie between home and away, extra time will be played for 15 ‘and possibly penalties in the event of a further tie.

With this decision, if the same number of goals are scored in 2 games played between the two teams. The matches will go to overtime. If the equality is not broken in overtime, it will go to penalties.
