UEL Result: Roma beats Man Utd 2-3, despite Man UTD qualifies for UEL Final with 8-5 on agg


Manchester United advanced to their UEFA Europa League final on aggregate 8-5 despite losing 3-2 on the night against Roma on Friday.
Dzeko and Cristante scored for Roma while Cavani’s brace ensured United got the goals.
But it was Telles’ own goal which gave the home side the all-important 3rd goal and victory.
It was chances galore throughout for the home side as they had an unbelievable 13 shots on target as against United’s 5 shots.
ImageRoma started off well and tested De Gea almost immediately as he saved Mancini’s header which he handled.
Mkhitaryan came close but could only manage the side netting.
Cavani had the best chance for United in the early exchanges but he lobbed the ball onto the top of the bar before it went out.
Mirante made his first save of the match as he denied Cavani’s vicious shot from eight yards.
Pellegrini came close against but De Gea got down to make a brilliant save from close range.

Bruno-Cavani run the show as United beat Roma 6-2 in UEL semis 1st leg

ImageManchester United finally punished Roma as Cavani burst through on goal and lashed a strike past Mirante for 1-0.
ImageDzeko equalized for Roma in the second half as he nodded home from a close-range header.
ImageCristante made it 2-1 as he fired a crisp shot across De Gea into the far corner to give Roma a glimmer of hope.
De Gea made a double save off Dzeko and Pedro from close range in succession as Roma continued to pile the pressure.
The Spanish keeper made another good save off Mkhitaryan to hold on.
Greenwood nearly scored the equalizer but his lifted shot skewed inches wide.

ImageCavani made it 2-2 as he timed his run perfectly to head home from Bruno’s delicious cross.
Roma did not stop and continued to pressurize the visitors and were finally rewarded. Telles scored an unfortunate own goal to send Roma 3-2 up.
Zalewski’s shot deflected off the Brazilian and went in as Roma got the 3rd goal.
It was more of a consolation goal as United won the tie.
ImageIt finished 3-2 in favor of Roma but United qualified for their first final under Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
Manchester United face Villarreal in the UEFA Europa League final on May 26th in Gdansk.
