The incident happened on the second ball of the fourth over of St Kitts’ innings when Gayle tried to play a big shot off Odeon Smith, but then the bat went past the handle and fell on the pitch. Then Gayle was batting on 5 runs.

During this match, Gayle scored 44 runs in 27 balls and along with Evin Lewis (77) played an important role in taking the team to the final.
Guyana’s team, batting first, set a target of 179 runs in front of the team of St. Kitts, which was achieved by the team of St. Kitts in 17.5 overs.
