Rishabh Pant Gloves: The second day of the third Test between England and India being played in Leeds was not very good for the Indian team.

On the second day from morning till the end, England batted and looked dominating the Indian bowlers. England have strengthened their grip in the third Test and the hosts currently have a lead of 345 runs.

During the second day’s play, a shocking scene unfolded on the field. When Indian captain Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant were seen interacting with the on-field umpires.

In fact, when the third session of the second day was about to begin. Umpires Alex Whorf and Richard Kettlebrough asked Pant to remove the tape from his wicketkeeping gloves. Pant had put this tape between the fourth and fifth finger. Which was not correct according to the law of MCC.

What does the law of MCC say?

As per 27.2.1, if a wicket-keeper wears gloves. He can only tape between the forefinger and thumb. As per Rule 27.1, the wicketkeeper is not allowed to tie any finger other than the index finger (the finger with the thumb) and the thumb on the glove.

The commentator told the whole story
Actually. David Malan was out a ball before tea time and his catch was caught by Rishabh Pant with the same gloves which were taped. Commenting at the same time, Nasser Hussain and David Lloyd told the audience that wicketkeepers could not tape their gloves the way Pant did.

Hussain said that, there are many rules regarding tying tapes in Cricket. But we heard from third umpire Richard Illingworth that Pant cannot tape his gloves like this. So he asked Rishabh Pant to remove the tape.

Later, his fellow commentator told Hussain that David Malan should be called back. If he was dismissed in this manner, to which Hussain said that this tape on his glove from the first Test match itself.
