Gerard Moreno latched onto a pinpoint delivery from the left flank by Parejo before he steered home to give the Yellow Submarine a 1-0 advantage.
The Spanish striker pulled away from the United defense and got the slightest of contacts to score his 7th goal of the UEL campaign.
United had more share of the ball but lacked potency and were lackluster as the game reached half time.

SECOND HALF
The Red Devils knew they had a job at hand and immediately got into the thick of things.
United kept more possession at the start of the second half and eventually found their way through.
Cavani equalized in the 55th minute to get Man Utd back on level terms.
Villarreal failed to clear their lines from a corner which Rashford drove into the box.
