Virat Kohli enters into the elite list of all-time leading run scorer in World Cricket

With his score of 72 runs in the second innings against England in the first test match of Ind vs Eng Test series, Kohli enters an elite list of all-time leading runs scorers. He is now the 7th ranked all-time highest run-scorer of all time in international cricket.

The top spot of the list, like many other record lists, is occupied by Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. That’s not a shocker, is that? Master Blaster has a total of 34357 runs across all formats in 782 innings. The second-ranked player on the list, Kumar Sangakara has 28016 runs in 666 innings.

Kohli now has an astonishing sum of 22369 runs across all formats and in the process of achieving this feat, he surpassed the West Indian legend, Brian Lara. Virat took 470 innings to reach these runs whereas, Lara took 521 innings to accumulate 22358 runs.

Virat has 70 centuries so far across all formats. Only Sachin Tendulkar (100 centuries) and Ricky Ponting (71) have more than Virat. Virat has played at an average of 55.92 and a strike-rate of 80.12 which is best in the top-level business.

Virat’s recent form has been a subject of concern for the team but there is no doubt that he is one of the best, probably the best batsman of this generation.
