WWE Friday Night SmackDown Result, Highlight, Winner, Grade, Video, Upset Analysis – 16th July 2021
SmackDown starts with a video that focuses on the return of fans.
The commentators salute the WWE Universe. Michael Cole notes that this issue is the first SmackDown with fans in 70 weeks. With over 14,000 fans, the show is completely sold out. Pat McAfee is the co-commentator.
Vince McMahom struts onto the new stage to great applause, while the audience roars loudly his Entrance Theme Song. “Where the hell have you been?” Asks Vince and goes back to the backstage area.
1. Match
Six-Man Tag Team Match
Roman Reigns, Jimmy & Jey Uso (w / Paul Heyman) defeated Edge, Rey & Dominik Mysterio via Jey’s Dirty Rollup against Rey, holding his pants
after the match: Jey attacks Rey and throws him against the ring post. Jimmy & Jey work on Dominik until Edge makes the save by attacking The Usos with a steel chair. Reigns knocks Edge down with a Superman Punch and breaks a piece of steel off a chair, but Edge follows Reigns’ Spear. Edge grabs the piece of steel and inserts it into Reigns’ mouth via crossface – the audience freaks out. After the action, Edge stands over Reigns and holds up the WWE Universal Champion title.
Backstage: Kayla Braxton interrupts the conversation between Edge and the Mysterios. Edge about to win the WWE Universal Championship?
Edge hopes it will be easy. He has to do things that he really doesn’t want to do. He has to act as a manipulative bastard.
A laughing Seth Rollis interrupts Edge and admits that while Reigns is the most selfish and megalomaniac person he knows, Reigns gets along with Edge. Rollins claims to win Sunday’s MITB Ladder Match, only to finish what he started a few years ago when he placed his boot on Edge’s neck. Rollins mockingly wishes Edge the best of luck before laughing again and walking away.
Sami Zayn enters the stage: Interestingly, everyone is talking about the MITB Ladder Match, but nobody mentions that he was disfellowshipped. The fans are back. There is a new entrance and shiny lights. But all this distracts the audience from the conspiracy against him. Sami goes into the ring and asks the audience to chant “Justice for Sami”.
Zayn is not at all surprised that the “Yee-Haws in Texas are not on his side and he really doesn’t need fans, he needs justice. If there was justice, the men’s MITB suitcase hanging over the ring would be lowered and given to him . are handed
Suddenly heard the entrance theme of Finn Balor and the Irish WWE superstar returns to the blue fire.
Zayn greets Bálor and starts an attack at the same time, but “The Prince” evades and gives Zayn an inverted DDT. Bálor then sends Zayn into the corner with a running dropkick before his Coup de Grace finisher follows.
Video Review: We see scenes from Shotzi and Nox’s Friday Night SmackDown debut from last week. Both superstars defeated Natalya & Tamina in their debut match after a back senton from Shotzi against Natalya.
The next video promotes the Bobby Lashley vs. Kofi Kingston WWE Championship match at Money in the Bank.
This is followed by a hype video about Apollo Crews.
Liv Morgan and Zelina Vega join the commentators for the next match.

2. Match
Non-Title Match
Should Shotzi & Nox win, they will receive a future
womens championship match Shotzi & Nox defeated Natalya & Tamina via Nox’s inside cradle against Natalya – before Morgan and Vega had a fight right in front of the ring, this distracted Nattie at short notice
After the match: Tamina and Natalya take care of Liv Morgan and Zelina Vega. But Morgan can successfully defend himself. She throws Nattie head first to the commentary desk before entering the ring. Nattie tries to resist, but Morgan puts her out of action with her double knee finisher and then points to the women’s MITB suitcase.
Backstage: Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode want to tell Bianca Belair something, but the SmackDown Womens Champ ignores both.

3rd Match
SmackDown Women’s Championship
Bianca Belair (c) defeated Carmella after the KOD – before that, Belair used her ponytail as a whip against Carmella.
Backstage: Chad Gable and Otis smell fear. Then Cesaro comes into the picture and claims that he smells a bull. Cesaro also knows about Gable’s list of people Otis destroys. At least they didn’t make the mistake of putting him on the list. Gable says that they didn’t even think of him, but he has now got Otis’ full attention. Otis hits Cesaro hard in the stomach before pushing him against the wall.

4. Match
Cesaro defeated Otis (w / Chad Gable) by DQ after Gable intervened in the match and Cesaro missed a German suplex

After the match: Cesaro successfully defended himself. Gable, has to take a European uppercut and the Giant Swing.
Otis returns and body tackles Cesaro before the Vader Bomb follows.
Backstage: Kayla Braxton knocks on the door of Roman Reigns’ locker room. Then Reigns and Heyman appear. Heyman promises to beat Reigns Edge on Sunday … when Heyman wants to announce that this is not a promise but a spoiler, Big E shows up.
Big E promises to win the Men’s MITB Ladder Match and pokes fun at Reigns who, in his opinion, won’t stand a chance against Edge.
