WWE News: 5 African-American WWE Champion, check the list


WWE Universe has brought one of the best wrestling squad of all times. Many of them being African American have managed to reach the WWE spotlight which every superstar craves. The best among these being Dwayne The Rock Johnson who is now the Highest Paid Actor in the world.

Here are 5 African American WWE Superstars who have held the WWE title:

The Rock

Dwayne Johnson was the first African American wrestler at the WWE Universe in 1998. The Rock earned his spot at the WWE by defeating the undefeated wrestlers in a short tenure. He was and is known as the People’s Choice due to his iconic wrestling style. The Rock was the perfect wrestler to be put as the face of the WWE.

Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston held the WWE Championship after he defeated Daniel Bryan. Previously, Kofi has held the Intercontinental championship as well as the RAW Tag Team Championship. Kofi created his identity as a New Day member. He reached the heights of his career while the New Day became the longest reigning Tag Team Champions ever at the WWE.

Booker-T

Booker-T made his debut at the WWE in 2001 and reached places after that. The King held a total of 21 titles at the WCW throughout his career. In 2006, Booker-T won the King of the Ring Tournament after which he fought Rey Mysterio. Rey was then the WWE Champion. Booker-T set records after he won a Battle Royal at the WWE Smackdown winning the World Title.

Mark Henry

Mark Henry joined the WWE in 1996. He was already a star even before the WWE. Mark Henry had certain accolades in the field of Power lifting and Olympic games. He even was crowned the World Strongest Man during his career at the WWE. Henry won the World Heavyweight Championship back in 2011 after he defeated Randy Orton.

Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley is the latest African American WWE Champion who just got his hands on the title recently. Drew McIntyre was the WWE World Champion before The Miz cashed his money in the bank contract onto him. The Miz then became the WWE Champion after which he fought Lashley. Bobby Lashley defeated the Miz in a matter of minutes and was crowned the new WWE Champion.
