WWE: SmackDown comes this week with WrestleMania implications written all over it as both the Royal Rumble winners are set to make their appearances on the show. The champions are likely to have confrontations with them while they might also gear up for their next challenges for the next pay-per-view event. These and more should be waiting when tonight’s show takes place from the Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay, Florida.
2021 Royal Rumble winner Edge is making his steps towards all the three brands available in the WWE targeting the reigning champions. He has already had encounters with WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and the NXT Champion Finn Balor, this week and now it’s the Universal Champion Roman Reigns is the only one left.
This face-off should go down this week on SmackDown setting up the course for a mega feud for WrestleMania 37. But for now, Reigns may just be handed with a new opponent for the very next PPV scheduled within just three weeks of time. Rumors are rife that Daniel Bryan could become the new number-one contender for the Universal Championship.
SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks has successfully defended her title against Carmella at Royal Rumble that marked two-straight pay-per-view events. Now, it’s evident that she will move to the next feud, starting from tonight. But before that, she will have to realize having a bigger cheap on her shoulder.
WWE Smackdown Preview (05/02/21): Women’s Royal Rumble Winner Appearing
Bianca Belair made history this past Sunday night when she survived 29 other women on her way to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match. We haven’t heard or seen her since that night as she makes her first TV appearance to let her WrestleMania intentions know to the world. Belair is a resident star of SmackDown and chances are pretty high that she will target the Women’s Title present in this brand.
Big E, the reigning Intercontinental Champion has a couple of potential challengers left in the mix. Due to Royal Rumble, the issues with the mid-card title was left unnoticed. Apollo Crews is the rightful challenger for the title while Sami Zayn is continuing with his own campaign of injustice over not getting a fair and square title shot. It’s almost evident that a three-way match is on the horizon. More details on the upcoming match will be revealed when SmackDown airs from the ThunderDome with the post-Rumble edition.
