3 reasons why Napoli need to be taken seriously in the UEFA Champions League 2022-23 season

Napoli UCL 2023: Napoli meet Frankfurt meet in the 1st leg clash of the RO 16 clash tonight with an eye on continuing their superior form.

Instead of highlighting the top players, we look at reasons why Napoli have the title credentials to go the distance in the 2022-23 UCL season.

The Italian side have been blessed with quality and skill in all aspects of the park and can well be title contenders this season.

Despite the likes of Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern and Man City; Napoli have found their top form in the competition.

Raspadori, Simeone and Zielinski scored majority of the goals for them in the stage with 11 to their name.

Despite Osimhen not firing in the league, Napoli have shown tremendous growth and aptitude in their goal-scoring ability.

This prolific run could hold them in good stead during the Round of 16 and eventual next rounds.

We can see the quality not diminishing this season especially in the UCL, where presence of mind and finding the net is so important.

Napoli’s defence have conceded just 6 in the group stage. This gave them massive confident to attack their opposition with more venom.

When the foundation is strong, naturally the progress moves up front with the team gelling like a well oiled unit.

The Serie A side has an experienced back 4 with the likes of Kim, Rrahmani, Rui having a solid season.

Their defence has been tested and they have come out with flying colors. If this attitude and solidity is maintained, we do not see why Napoli can’t go the distance.

Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia have combined in the Serie A so far and become one of Europe’s top duos.

Now they aim to translate that form into the UCL, where the former has not got going. Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia can do wonders in the remainder of the UCL season if they get going.

The 2 players have been a menace to defences and can put Frankfurt under early pressure to take advantage of the tie.

This duo factor remains a strong aspect why Napoli can challenge the top teams of the Champions League in 2022-23.
