UCL 2023 Top Scorers: The UEFA Champions League returns for the Round of 16 knockouts this year in what is expected to be a thriller.
16 teams are left in the fray with only 8 managing to make it to the next phase of the competition.
Before we get into the drama and potential brilliance of the knockouts, let’s revisit the group stage where we look at the top scorers of the 2022-23 season.
Without further ado, we see the UCL 2023 top scorers so far:
Mehdi Taremi
The Porto striker scored 5 goals in 5 league matches for his side as they made it to the Round of 16.
Porto finished top of Group B with 12 points from 6 matches to seal a Round of 16 clash with Inter.

Porto began the group stage with successive defeats in which Taremi was sent off in the opening clash.
He returned with goals in the last 3 group stages and hopes to continue with the same effort in the knockouts.
Robert Lewandowski

Barcelona forward, Lewandowski could not help his side qualify for the Round of 16 as they dropped into the UEL Play-offs.
But he was on target in the 5 league matches with the Polish striker scoring 5 goals. He began with a hat-trick against Plzen and followed it up with a brace vs Inter.
Erling Haaland

Haaland led Man City’s goal-scoring charts with 5 goals in 4 league matches during the group stage.
He began with a brace against Sevilla in the 4-0 drubbing of the La Liga side.
The striker added to his tally with a goal against former side Dortmund and 2 against Copenhagen.
Mohamed Salah
Salah made it to 2nd in the list with 7 goals in the group stage.
He began with a strike against Ajax followed another one against Rangers. The charge continued with a hat-trick vs Rangers to make it 5 in 4 matches.
Successive goals in the final two matches against Ajax (A) and Napoli; ensured delight.
With his goals, Liverpool sealed a Round of 16 berth where they face defending champs, Real Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe
Mbappe tops the charts with 7 goals from the group stage alongside 3 assists.
The French forward was in phenomenal touch throughout the group stage as he scored in every clash barring MD3 vs Benfica (A). This includes a couple of brace efforts vs Juventus and Maccabi Haifa.

Kylian played an integral role in sealing PSG’s place in the Round of 16 as they finished runners-up in their group.
