Apollo Crews retains IC title, will defend his title against Big E next week on SmackDown.

During the Friday Night SmackDown broadcasts via FOX, superstar Apollo Crews managed to defend the Intercontinental Championship in a heads up against Kevin Owens.

This was the third match on the most recent day of the blue show.  The match was even and long-lasting, with both superstars quite close to claiming the coveted victory.

After an interference from Commander Azeez, Apollo seized the opportunity and pushed Owens into a Roll-Up that would get him the count of three.  After the match, “KO” hit his Stunner before, attacked by Akeen once more and humiliated by Sami Zayn’s dancing.

In this way, Apollo Crews retains the WWE Intercontinental Championship in the first title defense of it. The wrestler won this belt twelve days ago on the second night of WrestleMania 37. Apollo defeated Big E in a Nigerian Drum Fight on the night of April 11 to take the title for the first time in his career.

Big E and Apollo Crews to meet next week

Following his first successful defense, Apollo Crews suffered a backstage attack from his former friend Big E. The latter took advantage of Akeen’s absence to break into an interview and knock out the champion.

Later, the company would announce a new head-to-head match between the two fighters for the April 30 episode.  This match will join Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan for the Universal Championship that will also headline the next blue show.
