Barcelona suffer a shocking loss against Granada 1-2, remain 3rd on table


Barcelona’s La Liga title challenge suffered a massive dent as they lost to Granada 1-2 at the Camp Nou on Thursday.
Messi broke the deadlock but Machis and Moulina completed the turnaround and win for Grenada.
Barcelona began proceedings as they meant business and were in the ascendency from the 1st minute.
Alba’s snapshot took a slight deflection off Herrera and was sliced over the bar.
Escandell was called into action as he got down to make a stop from Griezmann’s 25-yard strike.
Barcelona kept knocking at the door and eventually succeeded as Messi broke the deadlock.

The Argentine got onto a brilliant through ball from Griezmann before he finished past Escandell across the goal for 1-0.
This was his 26th goal in the La Liga this season.
Grenada could have equalized in the very next minute but Herrera shot was a poor one.
Messi nearly made it 2-0 but Escandell managed to close the angle on the Argentine’s shot.
Barcelona had the chance to put the game to bed but missed as they went in at halftime with a goal advantage.

In the second half, Barcelona upped the ante as they got off the block very quickly.
Griezmann tried his luck but his shot flashed wide of the right-hand post.
Grenada continued to pose threats on the counter on few occasions.
Soldado driving run was brilliantly intercepted by Piqué early on in the second half.
The consistency from the visitors bore fruit eventually as Machis got the equalizer for Grenada.

Grenada soon took the advantage of this as Molina scored to make it 1-2.

Messi and Co dominated throughout but were not clinical enough to take their chances.
