On 27th November 1993, Anil Kumble took the then best-ever bowling figures by an Indian in ODIs. This record stood for a good 21 years when an all-rounder broke it.

Let’s check the list of top 5 best bowling figures in ODIs by Indians to find out who it was:

#5 – Murali Kartik (vs Australia, 2007)

The former left-arm spinner turned commentator played for a limited number of years for his country. However, this was definitely one of his top performances.

In an ODI against the visiting Australian side in 2007, Kartik took 6 wickets for just 27 runs. This magical spell of bowling helped India register a victory against the mighty Aussie side!

#4 – Kuldeep Yadav (vs England, 2018)

The left-arm chinaman is next on our list. Although he has recently fallen out of sorts, he was in great form a few years ago. At Trent Bridge, Kuldeep rattled the English batting line-up as he took 6 wickets while conceding only 25 runs in his 10 overs.

This spell coupled with Rohit Sharma’s century helped India towards a huge win over hosts England!

#3 – Ashish Nehra (vs England, 2003)

Another left-arm Indian bowler taking 6 wickets against England. Only this time, it was in a World Cup! In a group game against the Three Lions, Nehra wreaked havoc with his brilliant bowling.

He claimed 6 wickets while giving away only 23 runs. India registered a big win over England, courtesy this spell!

#1 – Stuart Binny (vs Bangladesh, 2014)

That’s exactly what happened that night as Binny, who was not a regular in the squad, bowled a magical spell. Bangladesh were cruising at 44-2 when Binny was introduced into the attack.

When he was finished, the hosts lost 8 wickets for just 14 runs to get bowled for a measly 58! It was a stuff of dreams for someone like Binny who was still trying to make a name for himself.

He surely did after that night!
