Bundesliga: David Alaba will leave Bayern Munich at end of season, might join Real Madrid

David Alaba announced today that he will leave Bayern Munich when his contract expires at the end of the season, the club with which he has been since junior level. The 13-year-old bond with the club will come to an end with the culmination of the current Bundesliga season.

After over 400 appearances for the club and having provided many great memories, the Austrian Internationals will finish the season hoping to bag another Bundesliga title before his departure.

With the arrival of Upamecano at the start of next season, it seems that he will take up the void left by Alaba.

The titles at the club are a testament to his commitment and passion with which he played for the Bavarians. A winner of 2 Champions League titles, 9 Bundesliga titles (hoping to make it 10 at the end of the season), 6 German Cup, 2 FIFA Club World Cup, 2 UEFA Supercup, 5 German Supercup. The 28-year-old was widely respected amongst his teammates and was a central figure at the club for a long time. He would also like to retain the UEFA Champions League title before he moves onto new pastures.

He has not decided his next destination but has been on the lookout from many spaces. Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United have been few clubs trying to target him.

The Austrian international is to be one of the most sought-after free transfers available at the end of the season.

David played as a full back, centre back, Midfielder for the Bavarians and was a fan favourite. A veteran of 415 games for the club and has started all but 2 games in the league this season.

Bayern Munich look to keeping the momentum throughout the remainder of the season as Alaba would like to leave on a high. They are top of the tree in the Bundesliga and will be defending their UEFA Champions League crown against Lazio in the Round of 16 tie.
