Dembele and Messi’s goals help Barcelona beat Sevilla 2-0, jump to 2nd in the table

Barcelona continued their journey in pursuit of the table toppers as they beat Sevilla 2-0 and leapfrogged Real Madrid into 2nd place courtesy goals from Dembele and Messi.
Sevilla were lacklustre throughout the contest and did not provide much to the opposition in terms of energy and creativity and Barcelona took full advantage of it.
ImageDembele opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark when Messi slid a perfectly weighted pass to him before he slotted through Bounou’s legs.

La Liga: Messi scores a brace as Barcelona beat Elche 3-0, jump to third on points table

ImageMessi returned the compliment when he scored an individual goal to make it 2-0 and his 19th for the season. A quick one-two with Moriba before going past Fernando’s challenge and scoring past Bounou.
This was Messi’s 30th goal against Sevilla in La Liga which is the most for him against any opponent.
This victory means that Barcelona have jumped up to 2nd place with 53 points and are now two points behind table toppers, Atlético Madrid who play Villareal tomorrow in a crunch match. Sevilla remains fourth in the table.
