Ecuador WC 2022 Squad: Ecuador announced their 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in what is going to be their 4th World Cup appearance.

Enner Valencia is given responsibility of captaining the nation in this edition of the World Cup.

Ecuador finished 4th in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers earlier this year to ensure their return to the FIFA World Cup after missing out in 2018.

The CONMEBOL side’s 26-man squad as follows:

Goalkeepers: Hernan Galindez, Alexander Dominguez and Moises Ramirez

Defenders: Piero Hincapie, Felix Torres, Robert Arboleda, Xavier Arreaga, Jackson Porozo, Diego Palacios, Pervis Estupinan, William Pacho and Angelo Preciado

Midfielders: Moises Caicedo, Carlos Gruezo, Alan Franco, Jose Cifuentes, Jhegson Mendez, Jeremy Sarmiento, Ayrton Preciado, Romario Ibarra, Angel Mena and Gonzalo Plata

Forwards: Michael Estrada, Djorkaeff Reasco, Kevin Rodriguez and Enner Valencia (C).

Led by Valencia, Ecuador has a core of young talent in Caicedo, Sarmiento; who are part of the Premier League with Brighton.

Plata, Preciado and Cifuentes hold the key in mid-field to create a push for Ecuador’s side in terms of attacking.

Ecuador headline Group A where they are pitted alongside Netherlands, Senegal and hosts, Qatar

Their group stage fixtures are:

20th November: Qatar vs Ecuador (09:30 PM IST), Al Bayt Stadium. Al-Khor, Qatar

25th November: Netherlands vs Ecuador (09:30 PM IST), Khalifa International Stadium

29th November: Ecuador vs Senegal (08:30 PM IST), Khalifa International Stadium

La Tri came in third during the 2014 edition narrowly missing out from qualifying for the next round. They can use that as a stepping stone to deliver another performance of desire, passion and showcase excellence.

In a group featuring Netherlands and AFCON Champions, Senegal; it will be a hard task to secure qualification and Ecuador need to use their experience.
