England top Group D as they beat Czech Republic 1-0 via Sterling’s goal; check out

England 1-0 Czech Republic: England topped Group D after the Three Lions secured a 1-0 win against Czech Republic at the Wembley Stadium on Wednesday.

Sterling’s first half strike was enough as England picked up three points to finish with 7 points from their group D matches.

Czech Republic missed out on the opportunity to finish in the top 2 as they dropped to third due to this loss. Croatia replaced them as the 2^nd best side of Group D.

FIRST HALF

Czech Republic did not begin the first half in bright fashion as England nearly scored in the 2^nd minute through Sterling.

His chip shot rebounded off the post as the Czechs breathed a sigh of relief.

It could have been the perfect start for the Three Lions.

England continued to press up-field while Czech Republic struggled to get on the ball and were forced to drop deep.

It did not last long for England as they broke the deadlock in the 12^th minute through Sterling.

This time he did not miss as the winger nodded him from Grealish’s cross to give the Three Lions a 1-0 lead.

A good cross at the far post which met by Sterling, who did not miss as he scored his 2^nd goal of the Euro 2020.

Czech Republic soon had a better spell of possession and tried to force their opponents in their own half.

England came close to doubling their lead but Kane’s effort was saved well by Vaclik with a strong hand.

At the other end, Holes almost got the equalizer for Czech but Pickford made a good save.

Kane tested Vaclik once again as the Czech keeper pushed his shot away to safety as we reached half time.

It was 1-0 to England at the break.

SECOND HALF

The second half began on an even note as Czech Republic looked to get back on level terms.

Czech Republic’s passing let them down in the final third, due to which they could not apply the pressure on England.

England were not at their fluid best and weren’t threatening the opposition goal.

This was evident as we reached the 77^th minute without a single attempt on target in the half.

Not much happened towards the end as we reached full time.

It finished England 1-0 Czech Republic through a Sterling goal which assured the Three Lions a finish at the top of Group D.

Meanwhile, Czech Republic dropped to 3^rd in the table after Croatia won their match.

Kane and Co with this win secured a Round of 16 match at Wembley Stadium.
