EPL: Manchester United beat Newcastle United 3-1, reclaim 2nd spot on the league table

Manchester United got the job done comfortably without much alarm as the hosts beat Newcastle United 3-1 in their Premier League match on Sunday courtesy goals from Rashford, James and once again, Bruno Fernandes.

Bruno has now been involved in 54 goals since February 2020 with the assist and goal tonight.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the 30th minute after he nutmegged Krafth down the left, before cutting into the box and beating Darlow at the near post with a shot off his right foot to which the commentator added that he had done the ‘Craft on Krafth’.

Saint Maximim equalised for the Magpies on the 36th minute when Maguire’s backward header kindly fell to his feet and he slotted home on the half-volley.

In the 57th minute, Matic put the ball across the box only for Fernandes to get the barest of touches before it reached James, who in acres of space smashed it home to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.

Bruno Fernandes wrapped up the points when he calmly slotted away the penalty in the 75th minute post a clumsy poke by Willock on Rashford in the box; to make it his 15th goal in the Premier League this season.

The away side could not muster much after their equaliser as United completed their first win in three matches in the Premier League following draws against Everton and West Brom.

Manchester United reclaimed the 2nd spot with the win taking their tally to 49 points while Newcastle United remained on the 17th position with 25 points and are only three points away from the relegation zone.
