IPL 2021: 5 Captains who have won the most matches against Kohli’s RCB
Most wins against RCB: There are captains of some such IPL teams, who have won the most number of times against RCB.
Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of the few teams that have been a part of every IPL season since 2008. RCB played their first IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
RCB is one of the top teams in the Indian Premier League for the last 13 years. RCB has the biggest fan following in franchise cricket. Some of the big names in the cricket world like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Jacques Kallis, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble etc have been a part of this franchise.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore team is yet to win its first IPL title with star players. Meanwhile, some of the franchises have always performed well against RCB and the captain of those teams has been the biggest contributor. There are captains of some such IPL teams, who have won the most number of times against RCB.
These captains have won most matches against RCB –
David Warner – 11 matches, 6 wins
David Warner, the former captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, is at the fifth position in this list. Warner has played 11 matches against RCB as the captain of an IPL team. He played for Delhi Capitals in the year 2013 as a captain against RCB and Bangalore won that match by four runs.
After Delhi Capitals, Warner joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad team and also captained the team for a few years. Under the leadership of the 34-year-old left-handed batsman, SRH won 6 out of 10 matches against RCB. Under the captaincy of David Warner, Hyderabad won the trophy for the first time by defeating Bangalore in the final of IPL 2016.

Adam Gilchrist – 10 matches, 6 wins
Former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist’s name is also on the fourth place in this list. Gilchrist has also defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL final as a captain. He achieved this feat in 2009 while leading Deccan Chargers.
The 49-year-old former left-handed batsman also played against RCB as the captain of Punjab Kings. In terms of winning more matches against RCB, Gilchrist and Warner are on equal footing, but in terms of playing matches, David Warner has played one match more.
Gautam Gambhir – 16 matches, 9 wins
Gautam Gambhir, the former veteran opener of the Indian team, occupies the third place in this matter. Gautam Gambhir is one of the few captains who have won the trophy twice in the IPL. Under his captaincy, Kolkata Knight Riders topped the list. The former left-handed batsman also captained Delhi Capitals in the IPL.
The 39-year-old former cricketer played 16 matches as captain against Royal Challengers Bangalore, in which his team won 9 times. The most exciting match between KKR and RCB happened in IPL 2017, when Gambhir led Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Bangalore for 49 runs to win the match by 82 runs.
Rohit Sharma – 15 matches, 10 wins
The name of Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is second in this list. Hitman is one of the most successful captains of IPL. Under his leadership, MI has won the IPL title five times. Not only this, he has the highest win percentage among all the captains of the Indian Premier League. Rohit has played 15 matches against Royal Challengers Bangalore as captain.
Mumbai Indians won 10 out of these 15 matches under Hitman’s leadership. The first match of the first leg of IPL 2021 was played between RCB and MI, in which Bangalore defeated Mumbai.

MS Dhoni – 28 matches, 17 wins
Former India captain MS Dhoni’s name is in the first place in this list. Chennai Super Kings captain Dhoni holds the record for most matches and most wins as captain in IPL matches against Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the last 13 years, Dhoni has played 28 matches against RCB as the captain of CSK and Rising Pune Supergiant.
The 40-year-old former left-handed batsman has won 17 out of 28 matches as captain. During the first leg of IPL 2021, MS Dhoni’s team defeated RCB in a league matches.
