IPL auctions bring fortunes for many players and disappointment for others. In the IPL 2021 player auctions which took place on 18th February in Chennai, there were quite a few shockers. Check out the complete list of players who went unsold in IPL 2021 auctions:
5: Adil Rashid:
Adil Rashid is a proven match-winner. He is currently the 4th best T20 bowler in the world. Rashid has a variety of spin deliveries and can be a great asset to any team. Also, he can launch boundaries at a decent strike-rate. Still, Rashid went unsold at player auctions.
4: Sheldon Cottrell:
Sheldon Cottrell is currently the 8th rank T20 bowler in the world. The left-arm pacer is highly energetic on the field and also a good fielder. Why nobody bothered to sign him is mind-boggling.
3: Alex Hales:
Alex Hales is a destructive batsman who has been the best T20 batsman in the world at one point in time. In BBL 10, Hales was one of the most run-scoring batsmen in the tournament. He likes to open the innings and his 30-yard clearing abilities make him one of the best in the business. Nonetheless, Hales went unsold in the auctions.
2: Jason Roy:
This is a big surprise! Considering the recent form Roy has been in, any team could have gone mad to sign him in the auctions but nobody bothered to sign the 30-years old English batsman.
1: Aaron Finch:
Aaron Finch is currently the number 3 rank ICC T20 batsman in the world. his highest score in the T20 Internationals is 172, and he operates at a strike-rate of 154. Finch has played for 8 different IPL franchises in his career. Why he went unsold, is perhaps the biggest mystery of IPL 2021 player auctions.
