Iran 2-0 Wales: Iran scored twice in stoppage time to beat 10-man Wales and keep their qualification hopes alive in their 2nd Group B match on Friday.
Cheshmi broke the deadlock in the 98th minute before Razaeian doubled the lead in the 101st minute to seal a memorable and deserved victory.
FIRST HALF
Wales began the half and had the first chance of the game through Moore, but Hosseini made the save.
Iran found the back of the net in the 16th minute through Gholizadeh but was marginally offside. Hence, VAR overturned the decision.
IR Iran were the better side in the half and were consistently getting behind the Wales defence. They were having more efforts.
Wales found it difficult to get Bale into the game and were tensely holding on. Azmoun was the aggressor for Iran as he created scoring opportunities and unsettled the Wales defence. The half ended goalless.

SECOND HALF
Iran kicked off the second half and almost took the lead through Azmoun, but his effort crashed against the post.
Gholizadeh got the ball after that before cutting onto his left foot and smashing the opposite post within 9 seconds.
Iran’s pressure mounted and there was more confidence in their camp and play with these efforts.
Hennessey was called into action when he made a intervention off Ezatolahi’s effort.
Wales had an effort at goal later but Davies’ effort was rising always.
The moment of telling came in the 86th minute when Hennessey was sent off for a bundle into Taremi outside the box. Initially given yellow, the ref turned it to red.
Cheshmi finally broke the deadlock in the 98th minute with a sumptuous effort from outside the box.
With Wales down to 10, Iran took advantage of it with a counter attack which Rezaeian completed.
The defender got the ball from Taremi before he chipped it over the Wales goalkeeper to double the lead.
These strikes proved enough as Iran secured and deservedly merited a 2-0 victory to get their 1st win of the WC.
