Preview
Ireland come into this after a 1-0 loss to Armenia away from home in their opening clash of the Nations League on Saturday.
Spertsyan scored the only goal of the contest to inflict a first defeat on Ireland since September 2021 as their 8-match unbeaten run came to an end.
With that defeat, Ireland is at the bottom of their group standings and eye a winning return.
On the other hand, Ukraine’s World Cup dreams were dashed on Sunday as they were beaten 1-0 away to Wales in their WCQ Final.
Yarmolenko’s own goal dumped the Ukrainian side out of contention as they were left disappointed.
Despite all the outside issues faced by the country, Ukraine did all they could but couldn’t progress and will have to await their WC dream till 2026.
This loss was Ukraine’s first since the Euro 2020 Round of 16 defeat to eventual runners-up, England last year.
They too ended their 8-match unbeaten run with this narrow defeat.
