Rohit Sharma led MI wins their 5th match of the season, beats PBKS by 6 wickets

MI beats PBKS: Mumbai Indians defeated Punjab Kings by six wickets in the 42nd match of IPL 2021 played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium here. Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first.  Batting first, Punjab scored 135 for six in 20 overs.

Chasing the target, Mumbai’s team won the match by scoring 137 for four in 19 overs on the basis of an unbeaten 40 off 30 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes from all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

For Punjab, Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets while Mohammed Shami and Nathan Ellis got one wicket each.

Chasing the target, Mumbai did not have a good start and captain Rohit returned to the pavilion after scoring eight runs off 10 balls with the help of a four.  On its second ball, Bishnoi gave a second blow to Mumbai by bowling Suryakumar Yadav (0).

MI Move to 5th Spot

Saurabh scored 45 runs in 37 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.
After this, Quinton de Kock along with Saurabh Tiwary took the innings forward and shared a 45-run partnership for the third wicket.

But Shami ended this partnership by bowling de Kock.  De Kock scored 27 runs off 29 balls with the help of two fours.

Saurabh kept the innings from the other end and slowly started moving towards the half-century, but Ellis gave him the fourth blow to Mumbai by dismissing him. Saurabh scored 45 runs in 37 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.

After this, Hardik and Kieron Pollard batted vigorously and shared a 45-run partnership for the fifth wicket to win the team. Pollard remained unbeaten on 15 runs off seven balls with the help of a four and a six.

Punjab’s Lokesh Rahul and Mandeep Singh shared a 36-run partnership
Earlier, Punjab openers skipper Lokesh Rahul and Mandeep Singh made a modest start as the duo shared a 36-run partnership for the first wicket.

This growing partnership was broken by Krunal Pandya by dismissing Mandeep.  Mandeep scored 15 runs in 14 balls with the help of two fours.

Soon after, Chris Gayle, who came to play at number three, got out after scoring just one run.  Gayle was dismissed by his compatriot Pollard and sent to the pavilion.

Hardik Pandya back in form

Captain Rahul looked in good form, but he too could not last long and was dismissed for 21 runs in 22 balls with the help of two fours. Pollard also took Rahul’s wicket.

Markram scored 42 runs off 29 balls with the help of six fours. After this, Aidan Markram took over the innings but wickets were falling continuously from the other end.

Jasprit Bumrah, who came to bat after Rahul’s dismissal, gave another blow to Punjab by Jasprit Bumrah, who came to bat.

After this, Markram shared a 61-run partnership with Deepak Hooda for the fifth wicket. Markram scored 42 runs in 29 balls with the help of six fours.

After this, Hooda also could not last long and was dismissed after scoring 28 runs in 26 balls with the help of a four and a six.

In Punjab’s team, Harpreet Brar remained unbeaten on 14 and Ellis remained unbeaten on six.  For Mumbai, Pollard and Bumrah took two wickets each while Krunal and Chahar got one wicket each.
