Serie A, Juventus beats Lazio: Morata’s double strike help Juventus beat Lazio by 3-1, still in the race of Scudetto

Juventus beats Lazio by 3-1: Juventus came from a goal down to claim a 3-1 win against Lazio at Allianz Stadium on Sunday night. Adrien Rabiot scored a rocket shot, while Alvaro Morata’s double in two minutes secured the three points.

Andrea Pirlo welcomes the returns of Juan Cuadrado, Arthur and Bonucci, but remains without Matthijs de Ligt, Chiellini, Dybala, Frabotta and Rodrigo Bentancur, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.

CORREA AND RABIOT SHARE THE GOALS

Lazio were the first to spread the threat through Fares, who overcame Cuadrado’s strike but shot over the bar. It was Milinkovic-Savic next to threaten when his free kick slid narrowly beside the net. Their swift pressure paid off as they took the lead within 14 minutes: Correa snatched a Kulusevski wrong pass, ran forward and fired a shot that found the Juve goal.

Juve’s first real chance of the first half came when Morata fired a header wide, before Rabiot finally leveled the score in the 39th minute with a classy rocket shot. He ran stabbing from the left, saw Reina out of his ideal position and fired a rocket kick towards the top left corner of the narrow space. The first half ended with Fares’ chance slightly off target.

BUY AND SELL ATTACKS

Entering the second half, it was Juventus who grabbed the first chance: Chiesa made a lively move by breaking through the Lazio defense, but his last attempt was denied by Reina at the near post. Lazio then came close to scoring, not once but twice: Szczesny made a great save to block Correa’s attempt, before then Milinkovic-Savic’s header hit the bar.

The Bianconeri then turned things around with Morata’s brace in two minutes. The first came when Juventus broke on the counter-attack, Chiesa put a perfect pass to Morata, who slammed the ball into the top corner from 12 yards. The Spanish striker then scored his second goal from the penalty spot after Ramsey was brought down by Milinkovic-Savic in the box, successfully outwitting Reina. Lazio tried to try to cut the deficit through Correa, who kept the finish wide, while Fares fired a fierce shot into the side of the net on the last chance of the match.
