Free Agents in 2023: The January 2023 transfer window is nearing us as clubs look to strengthen their sides ahead of the season restart.
There is uncertainty regarding certain players during this transfer window as some of them are nearing the expiry of their current contracts.
Clubs need to make a quick decision whether to sell certain free agents in January for a reduced price or risk losing them on a free transfer.
Without further ado, today we look at the top 5 free agents whose contract expire at the end of 2022-23 season.
Angel Di Maria
The Argentina winger’s contract with Juventus ends this season and after a performance of such caliber, they may look to extend it for atleast a year.
Di Maria’s recent performance in the World Cup final where he scored a beautiful goal shows he is still an impact player, which Juventus can rely on.

Marcus Rashford

The English winger and striker has started off his 2022-23 season in style and there seems to be love returning for the game.
After a forgettable 2022 season, Rashford has got back his form scoring 4 goals and assisting 2 goals in 14 league matches for Manchester United.

He also scored 3 goals in England’s World Cup campaign which included a peach of a free-kick in the 3-0 win over Wales.
Rashford’s contract ends this season and Ten Hag may push to keep the youngster in Manchester especially after Ronaldo’s mid-season departure.
Toni Kroos
The Real Madrid mid-fielder scored one goal and provided 2 assists in 11 La Liga matches this season.
This season marks a 9th successive one for Los Blancos, where Toni Kroos has become a vital part of the squad over time.
Kroos is still hailed as one of the most important men in the Real Madrid squad and Ancelotti may look to re-sign them for an extension.

David de Gea

Manchester United’s de Gea will be a free agent at the end of the current season. There has not been much in terms of talks for a renewal.
David has been a part of the club since July 2011 and has been one of the club’s greatest signings despite the misfortunes in terms of silverware.
The goalkeeper can be a vital target in January if they have no plans on re-signing. He was the club’s Player’s Player of the year for 4 seasons.
Karim Benzema

Benzema’s contract is to end in 2023 and the Real Madrid striker will become a free agent.
After the difficulties endured with the French team, Benzema will hope to find solace on return to Los Blancos for the remainder of the season.
In 7 matches so far, Benzema scored 5 and assisted 1 goal. Benzema is hoping to replicate last season’s magical performances which saw him lift the Ballon D’or.
