Least wins in FIFA WC: The FIFA World Cup remains the pinnacle of the sport at the international stage for all member nations in their history.

Hence, it is a matter of pride to have won many matches during this competition. But for some, this tournament is a chance to not gain wins but rather to showcase their talent.

Not all countries have the acumen, financial power to help develop squads and create masterful teams to gain success.

While some are winners, there are losers as well and today we look at the top 5 teams with the least wins in World Cup history amongst the 2022 participants.

Wales

Wales has managed just 1 win in their World Cup history coming way back in 1958.

The side had to wait for 62-years to mark their return to the FIFA World Cup; being in 2022 Qatar.

The win came against Hungary 2-1 in the Play-off match vs Hungary which helped Wales secure a place in the Quarter-Finals of the competition.

Australia

ImageThe Socceroos have been a part of 5 editions of the competition. However, they have managed just 2 wins during that time.

These wins came in the 2006 and 2010 tournaments against Japan and Serbia respectively during the group stage.

Iran

ImageTeam Melli has also managed 2 wins from 5 FIFA World Cup competitions.

The first victory came in 1998 during the group stage vs United States before they waited till 2018 to get their 2nd win against Morocco at the same stage as well.

The African side has been another poor performer at the World Cup winning 2 of their 15 matches played across 5 editions.

A first win came in 1978 against Mexico in their maiden FIFA WC match. A win over Panama in the 2018 World Cup marked their 2nd win of the competition.

Morocco has also won just 2 matches in the competition across 5 editions in 16 matches.

The first victory came in the 1986 WC over Portugal 3-1. After a gap of 12 years, the African side picked up their 2nd win against Scotland 3-0.

Both these wins came during the group stage of the respective World Cup’s. It was only in 86’ where Morocco managed to progress to the knockouts.
