UEFA Europa League: Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes breaks Paul Scholes record

Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes broke the record of most goals by a United midfielder in a single season with his 21st strike of the season courtesy a brace in the 4-0 thrashing of Real Sociedad.

Paul Scholes previously held the record with 20 goals in the 2002/03 season and with still another three months to go before the season comes to a close, only time will let us know how many more will Bruno score.

ImageThe Portuguese has been on fire for the Red Devils this season having scored 14 goals in the Premier League and is the second highest goal scorer of the Premier League season 2020/21 behind Salah who has 17 to his name.

Bruno has scored 4 goals this season in the Champions League, a solitary goal in the FA cup and a brace in the Europa League to add to his 14 goals in the Premier League.

ImageSince his debut for Manchester United, he has scored 33 and set up 19 goals in his 58 appearances in all competitions. He has 52 goal involvements and is only one short of Messi who has 53 since February, 2020.

The catalyst for United has got the team to revolve around him and has adapted to the Premier League like fish to water. His statistics are outrageous and the No 18 offers so much more to Ole’s side on the pitch. Dynamism, bravery and control over play are the qualities he possesses which are testament to his form.

We hope to see more of the same from the No 18 who has been the central figure for Manchester United this season.
