WTC Final 2021: Stats in Southampton, Record, What to do first Bat or Ball | Check All

WTC Final 2021: The final match of the World Test Championship (WTC Final) between India and New Zealand will start on June 18. With both teams ranked first and second in the ICC Test rankings, the match is sure to be a tough one.

New Zealand recently warned India of winning the Test series against England. Therefore, New Zealand’s challenge will be difficult for India. But there is another thing that is dangerous for India. The match is at the Southampton Ground in England and the Indian team has a poor record at this ground.

The Indian cricket team has played only two matches at Southampton so far. India have suffered embarrassing defeats in both the matches. Therefore, India will have to think about this for the WTC Final. New Zealand, on the other hand, have not played a single match at the ground.

Such is the record

The Indian team played its first Test at Southampton from July 27 to 31, 2014. In the match against England, England declared the first innings at around 569 for 7 wickets.

After that, India could only score 330 runs. In the second innings, England scored 205 for 4, so India needed 445 for victory. At that time, India could score only 178 runs which led to the defeat of India by 266 runs.

This was followed by another match between India and England between August 30 and September 2, 2018. At that time, India bowled out England for 246 and scored 273 runs. England then scored 271 in the second innings. That gave India a target of just 245 for victory. However, the Indian team was all out for 184 and lost the match by 60 runs.
