WWE Smackdown: Shinsuke Nakamura becomes new Intercontinental Championship, defeats Apollo Crews
WWE Smackdown: During the Friday Night SmackDown broadcast on FOX. Shinsuke Nakamura won the Intercontinental Championship by beating Apollo Crews.
In the final minutes of the fight, Apollo climbed to the third rope for a jump but Rick Boogs tried to distract him with his guitar, Commander Azeez tried to get into the ring. Seeing both, the referee expelled them from the ring leaving the competitors alone.
Apollo performed his Suplex from the third string and resisted his opponent’s knees for a Powerbomb. Nakamura reversed with an Electric Cair followed by a Suplex and finished with a Kinsasha for victory.
In this way, Nakamura won the Intercontinental Championship for the second time, ending the reign of Crews that lasted 125 days. Apollo got the belt on April 11, 2021, during the second night of WrestleMania 37.
