3 reasons why Barcelona will pip Real Madrid to the La Liga 2023 title

Barca to win La Liga: The La Liga title saw another twist last night as Barcelona lost 1-0 away to Almeria in their league clash on Sunday.

This left them with a 7-point gap advantage at the top of the table ahead of Real Madrid. Barcelona had the chance to go 10-points clear following Real Madrid’s draw.

But could not take advantage as they lost a 2nd league clash of the season in the 1-0 loss to Almeria.

With the title race heating up this season, we are still hoping to see a final quarter of the season give us excitement.

15 matches left in the season for these two teams in particular leaves the title race on a knife-edge.

However, we still see Barcelona piping Real Madrid to their first La Liga title since the 2018-19 seasons.

We provide 3 reasons why we feel so especially with both teams having 15 matches left in their respective campaigns.

RMA inconsistent in La Liga

Real Madrid’s recent La Liga does not inspire their title hopes. Los Blancos have drawn 2 and lost 1 of their previous 6 matches. They have drawn and lost 2, 1 more match than Barcelona.

At the crucial stage of the season, Barcelona has the edge due to this inconsistent factor.

The reigning champions have dropped points at crucial junctures, which has accelerated Barcelona’s push towards the title.

Barcelona’s defensive record

The Catalan side have conceded 8 goals all season and have the best defensive display of the season.

On the other hand, Real Madrid has conceded 10 more in similar number of matches. A run in towards the title requires a combination of defensive and attacking composition.

Real Madrid’s defence has not been top-notch all season while their attack has flown off the blocks.

It could come down to which team defends better and currently Barcelona hold the edge by a good distance.

El Clasico next Month

Barcelona face Real Madrid in a home El Clasico next month. This match comes immediately after the 2nd leg UCL clash vs Liverpool for RMA.

The home side are out of Europe and hence do not have more pressures of outside domestic competitions to deal with.

Real have a 5-2 advantage ahead of the 2nd leg but are still expected to play their best team in that clash.

Madrid will have 2 days to recover for the El Clasico, which could give Barca the edge. Ancelotti’s men need to win that fixture in particular to reduce the gap and hope Barca drops points elsewhere.

Fatigue could creep in for that fixture particularly for Real Madrid, which can see Barcelona shade the match.

Despite this, Barcelona’s 7-point lead and experience in their management and some key players should see them through to the title.

This is where the likes of Busquets, Alba, Lewandowski have to bring their vast experience to the table and calm the players around.
