Rashford endured a terrible nightmare of a campaign as the Englishman just not could stitch two performances together at all.

He was so far off the pace this season that the Englishman seemed lost on confidence mid-way through the season.

The start of the season did not work wonders for Rashford as he was coming in with an injury post the Euro 2020; where he missed a decisive penalty in the final match against Italy.

On return from injury, the Manchester United player looked out of sync and displayed lack of confidence and ambition.

In 25 league matches, he scored a paltry 4 goals and provided 2 assists. Such poor numbers from a talented player showed the reality of sport.

When it’s not going well, it just doesn’t and Marcus Rashford witnessed this during the campaign.

In his debut season for the Red Devils, Sancho was another poor performer as he finished with 3 goals and 3 assists in 29 EPL matches.

Sancho seemed jaded from the after effects of the Euro 2020 tournament and couldn’t get going this season.

After enjoying a fabulous season with Dortmund last year, Sancho was a shadow of himself in the Premier League.

He even missed the season ender due to tonsillitis, which ended his campaign rather early.

Gareth Bale

ImageGareth Bale was another player that had a terrible 2021-22 football campaign with Real Madrid.

After returning from his loan spell at Spurs, Bale was hopeful to kick on and get to his best but that was a distant dream.

The Welsh international played just 5 matches for them and scored a sole goal in that time-frame.

Injuries, disagreements with the managers and an eventual announcement of departure were all reasons that led to Bale having a below-par season.

After 8 seasons in Spain, Bale aims to get away from the horrors of last season and showcase his skills once again which made him a big name.

Lionel Messi moved to Paris from Barcelona, shattering fans all over the world but did not enjoy the best of starts in his new environment.

Messi scored 6 goals and provided 14 assists in 26 league matches as PSG lifted the Ligue 1 title quiet comfortably.

However, the ex-Barcelona man personally did not have a fruitful campaign as he found it difficult to get into the groove as he lacked what he associates with ‘GOALS’.

Paris’ number 30 got into a bit of a run towards the end but was not enough to justify the quality he possesses.

The Parisians as well finished their campaign with just 1 trophy; which was a disappointment.
