Football news: Top players who have been named POTY in multiple leagues


Winning the player of the year award is no mean feat. It requires innumerable hours of practice, training and sacrifices for the team.
But to win the award in multiple leagues shows the caliber and supremacy of the player coupled with his consistency.
We let you know the geniuses who have been named Player of the Year across multiple leagues.
EDEN HAZARD
ImageHazard won the Player of the Year in Ligue 1 for successive seasons being 2010/11 and 2011/12.
He scored 7 goals and providing 11 assists in 38 appearances in 2010/11 season for Lille to gain the award.
In the following season, there was an upgrade in his performance as this time around he scored 20 goals and provided 18 assists in 38 appearances.
ImageEden Hazard then joined Chelsea and won the Player of the Year award in the Premier League 2014/15 season.
His season statistics were: 14 goals and provided 10 assists which helped Chelsea secure the Premier League crown.
KEVIN DE BRUYNE
Another Belgian phenom proved to a success across the Bundesliga as well as the Premier League winning the Player of the Year award in both leagues.
ImageIn 2014/15, he scored 10 goals and provided for 21 and was named Player of the Year for Wolfsburg.
Kevin De Bruyne joined Manchester City in August 2015 and provided consistent performances to become an instant hit.
ImageBut he hit his peak in the 2019/20 season, scoring 13 goals and providing 20 assists in 35 league appearances which led to him being named the Premier League Player of the Year.
ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC
ImageZlatan Ibrahimovic was an integral part of Inter Milan’s success during the 2007/08, 2008/09 and 2010/11 seasons where he won the Serie A Player of the Year award for his sparkling performances.
In the 2007/08 season, the striker scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists in 26 appearances for Inter to gain the recognition from the Serie A.
In the subsequent season, he scored 25 goals and provided for 7 goals in 35 appearances to regain the Player of the Year award (POTY).
Zlatan capped it off with a hat-trick of POTY trophies when he won it in 2010/11 season for scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists in 29 appearances.
He won the Serie A title in all the three seasons which added to his individual glory and made him one of Inter Milan’s all time-greats.
ImageZlatan moved to France later on in his career and still continued the brilliant form as he won the Player of the Year for Paris Saint Germain on three occasions.
In 2012/13; he scored 30 goals for the Parisians along with 9 assists in 34 appearances to pick up the individual honor.
He backed it up by regaining it in the following year for scoring 26 goals and providing 15 assists in 33 appearances.
Zlatan made it a perfect three once again by securing the individual award in 2015/16 season, scoring 38 goals and providing for 12 in 31 appearances.
The Swedish master won the Ligue 1 title as well in the three brilliant years mentioned above to couple his individual glory with team silverware.
CRISTIANO RONALDO.
The Portuguese and current International top-scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the Player of the Year in three different leagues.
Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus were the conquerors as Ronaldo won the prestigious award on five different occasions.

Ronaldo’s fourth and fifth season for Manchester United were where he hit his peak form.
He scored 17 goals and providing 16 assists in 34 appearances in 2006/07 season to gain his first individual honor being named Player of the Year.
Next season was no different as the Portuguese regained the title once again scoring 31 times and providing for 7 goals in 34 appearances as the Red Devils reaped success.
ImageRonaldo moved to Real Madrid in 2009 for a chance to live his dream and became an all-time great for the Los Blancos.
In 2013/14 season, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 31 goals and gave 11 assists in 30 appearances in the La Liga to win the La Liga Player of the Year Award.
He left for Juventus in 2018 and has since being playing his trade in Italy.
ImageIn 2018/19, Ronaldo scored 21 goals and provided 9 assists in 31 appearances to be named Serie A Player of the Year.
In the following season; he scored 31 goals and provided 6 assists to regain the Player of the Year award.
These four players are part of such a list which is not every player’s cup of tea and it just goes to show, Attitude and confidence makes one a world beater.
