France Euro 2020: France would aim to overcome their 2016 Euro loss in the finals against Portugal as they enter the Euro 2020 with their high hopes.

Didier Deschamps announced the France Euro 2020 squad recently with Hugo Lloris set to captain his side once again.

France has been the team to beat in last few years. They came runners-up in the Euro 2016 and won the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Hugo Lloris (Captain), Steve Mandanda, Mike Maignan.

Defenders: Lucas Digne, Léo Dubois, Lucas Hernandez, Presnet Kimpembe, Jules Koundé, Clément Lenglet, Benjamin Pavard, Raphaël Varane, Kurt Zouma.

Midfielders: N’Golo Kanté, Thomas Lemar, Paul Pogba, Adrien Rabiot, Moussa Sissoko, Corentin Tolisso.

Forwards: Wissam Ben Yedder, Karim Benzema, Kingsley Coman, Ousmane Dembélé, Olivier Giroud, Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappé and Marcus Thuram.

Notable absentee from the squad was Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, whose form and fitness have been a question of concern throughout the recent season.

With lack of game time and poor performances, he missed out. There were surprises in store as well with Karim Benzema’s return.

Benzema was Real Madrid’s top scorer and had one of his best seasons in a Los Blancos shirt was aided his return to Les Bleus.

The 2018 World Cup winners have plenty of match winners in their side like Coman, Mbappé and Dembélé.

The likes of Pogba and Kanté in the center of the park provide solidity and experience.

Overall, this French side has the potential to go the distance in the upcoming event. Hugo Lloris will lead the Frenchman as they aim to overcome the heartbreak of 2016.

Fixtures

Les Blues are in the Group of death (Group F) where they face the likes of Portugal, Hungary and Germany.

Deschamps’ side need to be on the money from the 1^st minute as they look to overcome a difficult proposition in Group F

Their fixtures are as follows:

16^th June:

France vs Germany (12:30 AM IST)

19^th June:

Hungary vs France (12:30 AM IST)

24^th June:

Portugal vs France (12:30 AM IST)

Munich and Budapest are the hosts for the matches of Group F.

France plays 2 warm-up matches prior to the continental event against Wales and Bulgaria on 3^rd and 9^th June respectively.
