Preview
Lyon begin their Ligue 1 campaign on Saturday when they face Brest at home as they look to mount a challenge for the title.
The French side finished 4th last season and narrowly missed out on UCL qualification but this season they would aim to continue the good form and aim for a top 3 finish.
Lyon come into this one on the back of successive losses in pre-season against Sporting CP and Porto. Due to this, they will be under pressure to start the campaign on a positive note.
On the other hand, Brest endured a horror campaign last season as they finished 17th in the table, narrowly missing out on relegation.
Zakarian’s side also lost their last 2 pre-season matches and will need a major boost of confidence ahead of this clash.
Brest has been on the losing side for a while and this could get ugly, if they do not start well.
Both sides last met in the Ligue 1, where Lyon edged out Brest 3-2 in February, 2021 through goals from Paqueta, Aouar and Depay’s first half goals.
Chardonnet and Cardona scored for Brest in the second half but could not force a result.

Lyon is the stronger side on paper and even form-wise, should win this one comfortably.
Brest will need a top performance if they want to topple Lyon but we do not expect much from a side lacking in confidence.
